On one end the Ø63mm pipes are provided with a socket having a groove to accommodate a rubber gasket, which is a joining and sealing element and is made of a specially profiled rubber. The gasket is placed in the groove on the socket. This joint is a detachable solution that allows moving the pipeline sections to compensate for any pipe elongations. The PVC-U pipes can also be joined with traditional pipes (cast iron, steel).

The pipes can be used at the temperature of max. 45^oC.
The acceptable working pressure decreases with the growth of temperature, for which the pipeline is installed.
The working-to-nominal pressure conversion coefficients at various temperature ranges is presented in the table below.

Clean the pipe socket and place the gasket in the dry groove with the thicker part backwards. To facilitate this the gasket can be pressed to form the “8”-shape. Then, clean the outer surface of the pipe end, apply the lubricant to decrease friction, join the pipe section by placing the pipe into the socket to a required depth. Detailed data on joining and lying the pipe sections is provided in the Installation Manual.

GAMRAT SA is the only Polish manufacturer of GW-type PVC-U piping systems suitable for underground lines and networks in the areas affected by mining works. With a modified socket depth the GW-type PVC-U pipes may be installed in the areas exposed to continuous deformation, which intensity complies with the 4th category of terrain.
The "GW"-type PVC-U pressure pipes are used to build supply networks for drinking water and other fluids under working pressure of 0.6, 1.0 and 1.6 MPa at 20°C. Regardless of the advantages, which make plastic pipes as better than pipes made of other materials, the pipelines composed of the "GW"-type PVC-U pipes do not require any additional compensating devices, which are necessary in mining areas in case of other constructional solutions.

Standard pipe length is L = 6 m + 0,02 m for all working pressures.
The nominal pressure is the maximum working pressure at 20^oC.

For Ø63 mm up to Ø450 mm pipes an thermoplastic rubber seal is used (EPDM).
Note: While assembling "GW"-type pipeline (diameters Ø160 - 450 mm) the direction of installing the sealing ring does not matter. For Ø63-110 mm pipes the ring is placed in the traditional way.

Note: For Ø500 mm and Ø630 mm pipes a seal with internal split expanding ring is used and mounted by the manufacturer.
The joining procedure in pipelines composed of Ø160-450 mm pipes installed in areas exposed to mining activity is different from the traditional procedure in the following aspects: the sealing ring is put in the socket groove adversely, i.e. the thinner end is directed to the inside and then a PVC-U stopper ring is put into the groove.
