Nails should be driven perpendicular and in the middle of the hole, so as to allow for thermal expansion and shrinking of elements. Individual elements must not be tensioned when nailed. Spacing between nails should be uniform and should not exceed: - 60 cm for strips; - 30 cm for soffit ceiling; - 40 cm for accessory fittings. |
Installing of profile accessories. Façade mounting starts from the bottom, approx. 200 mm below the lower plane of the cellar floor in case of heat insulation. Drive nails partially near house corners at distances of 52 mm from that level and stretch a fishing line horizontally along walls, thus marking the upper edge for starter strip mounting. |
Position the starter strip along the marked reference line and nail it. In case of a perceptible waving, use wedges to make it flat. Leave dilatation gap of 6-10 mm between strips. |
Outside and inside corners shall be mounted 6 mm below the eaves and 10 mm below the lower edge of the starter strip. The corner should be positioned in perpendicular line to eaves. Cut off the side edges of the corner some 10 mm from the lower end, so that they do not project below the façade. When joining two corner sections, cut 25 mm off the upper end of the lower corner, except its front part. Then the upper corner section should be slid onto the lower corner to a depth of 18 mm, thus leaving 7 mm for thermal expansion. |
Channel, type 'J', is mounted around windows and doors to shield the wall siding. It is to be positioned around the opening and fixed with nails to wooden laths. |
Joining of channels, type 'J', in corners of windows requires such trimming of the upper strip that it projects beyond the width of the side type-'J' channels. Then the lower part of the upper strip is to be incised and bent downwards so that it goes into the side strips and forms a water outflow. The upper ends of side type-'J' channels, shall be trimmed at right angle. The lower ends of side strips shall be prepared for joining similarly as the ends of upper strip, and both ends of lower strip - similarly as the upper ends of side strips. The front part of upper-strip ends may also be trimmed at 45o angle. Then the inner (middle) part of the side type-'J' channels, shall be cut out to a depth equal to the width of the front part of the strip. |
Mounting of first horizontal siding. The first horizontal siding is to be snapped into the starter strip and nailed. In order to ensure space for expansion, dilatation gaps shall be kept between strips and horizontal sidings (6 - 10 mm, depending on temperature during facade installing). The first nail shall be driven no closer than 100 mm from the edge. Make 25-mm overlaps at horizontal- siding connections. |
